| Triathlons In a triathlon, you swim, bike, and run, always in that order. They can be any distance. The longest one I did included a 1.2 mile swim, a 45 mile bike ride, and then a 10 mile run. That took me about 4 hours and 45 minutes from start to finish. |

In some triathlons you start on the land and then run across the beach into the water. In others, like this one, you start in the water, standing or treading water until it's time to go. I'm the one looking at the camera. |

When the swim is done, you get out of the water and run to a place where everyone keeps their stuff. Here I got my bike and put on a shirt, sunglasses, helmet, socks, and shoes. Sometimes it's hard to remember where you put your bike! |

Now the bike part is done and the run starts. I put my bike back, changed shoes, and got a different hat. Now I have to run 10 miles! Am I going to make it? |

Number 429 (me) crosses the finish line! I made it, but those last couple of miles seemed to go on forever. I was so tired! |

Here I am celebrating my finish with some gatorade and a little silliness for the camera. I didn't come anywhere near to winning, but just finishing felt pretty great. You should try to reach the goals you set for yourself, whether it's to win something or just to improve, and when you reach them you will feel fantastic! |
